     @why @ChristiJunior @echo I don't think it is either but I couldn't articulate a negative statement about it very well. But if you take something like Call of Duty I fell like there is a direct recognizable lineage even though they are very different games. I have been playing DOOM again recently and I still feel this way

     @echo @ChristiJunior it's iconic imo because it incorporates so many components that continue to exist in FPS. I skipped over Wolfenstein 3D but it could be Wolfenstein 3D
