     @TrevorGoodchild I should also point out that Game of Goons is apparently the reason HBO cancelled the “Rome” series, supposedly there wasn’t enough money for both. Of course they went with the Reddit rubbish

It's pulp trash based on an unfinished nihilistic, 'grimdark' pseudo-fantasy series written by an obese neckbeard (George RR Martin) who deliberately styled himself as the anti-Tolkien and basically wrote 'The War of the Roses, with dragons and zombies'
     
     All heroic characters die demeaning deaths because LOL FUCK YOUR EXPECTATIONS I AM SO CLEVER, endless scatology and rape and torture porn, pointless meandering, plots that go nowhere, rape, fantasy characters that are written by an author who clearly despises magic, rape (did I mention that Martin really has a rape fetish?)
     
     The HBO series should have been called 'Titties and Dragons' until all the actresses capitalized on their newfound popularity and had 'no-nudity' clauses written into their contracts. Because Martin is decent at writing clever dialogue the show limped along until they ran out of book material and had to start coming up with new ideas. It then crashed and burned, to the screaming of millions of bugmen across the world.
     
     If you want good, bleak low fantasy just read Glen Cook's 'The Black Company' series

     Midwits love nihilism and grimdark because they think it's sophisticated and clever to reject heroism and bravery and chivalry. The whole series is gay and cringe. There's nothing inspiring or aspirational about it. It's the sort of "entertainment" one can only enjoy at the end of civilization.
