@meso yeah i am not even against it and tbh if there's some kind of conspiracy about it isn't even interesting to me, i should probably care because i care about misinfo and it probably is right wing misinfo
@Moon >The 15-minute city is a residential urban concept in which most daily necessities and services, such as work, shopping, education, healthcare, and leisure, should be located within an easily reachable 15-minute walk or bike ride from any point in the city. this is just Europe, Eastern Europe in specific
@Moon@meso I'll also add, I believe Klaus's book outright talks about citizen all in one IDs, and it limiting your purchases due to environmental concerns
All in one IDs are coming to the UK and Europe, because of course
If you have no car and get shut out of any sort of transportation for having bad thoughts what can you do? An open air prison with all your amenities nearby is still a prison. If the leaders were even the slightest bit benevolent or at least neutral with these things yeah it could be good but we know that's not even close to being the case.
@ciel@meso@ignaloidas@Moon i'm sure that sounds nice, if you've forgotten the left's COVID hysteria already. imagine how smug the spiteful mutants would be if they were able to shut down the bus routes or deny access to anyone whenever they wanted and everyone just had to shut up and take it cause their shithole cities were impossible to drive or own a car in.
@ignaloidas@meso there's a lot to like about fifteen minute city concept, but like smeone else mentioned in this thread the wef guy talked in his book about how you could control people's movement.
@Moon@meso@ignaloidas oh my god dude i fucking wish someone was controlling my movement then I might have more than one fucking bus that travels thru my village rather than having to be a wagie to run a car
@Moon@shitposter.club@meso@asbestos.cafe I don't see how this would lead into the "you will own nothing" stuff. Like, the ability to get your stuff close by is honestly dangerous to a large industry(automakers) that at least in america, has historically steered the ways cities have developed, to their own benefit.
tbh that's exactly what soviet planners were trying to do at one point. Most cities were actually being planned with this in mind. Mind you, often unsuccessfully, because of other issues, but the attempt and concept was there.
@Moon >Unfounded conspiracy theories about the 15-minute concept theories have flourished, including claims that the model will fine residents for leaving their home districts.[47][48][49] British Conservative Party MP Nick Fletcher called 15-minute cities an "international socialist concept" during a debate in the UK Parliament in February 2023. :marseypills:
@ciel@meso@ignaloidas@Moon the logistical challenges of towing a shit ton of people's cars because you want them to be unable to travel are far greater than to simply leave the buses or trains parked in the depot rather than out running their routes. plus in my country, they'd need a massive police escort to avoid getting shot, and when all the cops are busy doing that, everything at all the stores becomes free.
@meso@ciel@ignaloidas@Moon@skylar remember buffalo the other month when the snow made everyone loot? Not even because of some protest but because the cops were stuck in the snow?
@coolboymew@Moon uhm we already have all in one IDs they list your full name where you were born etc i don't know why this isn't a thing in the US and you guys have like 5 separate things you use as IDs
@meso@coolboymew because republicans believe it is a new world order conspiracy plot and democrats don't want as ubiquitous, verifiable and free id because then their arguments about why you shouldn't need an id to vote would be gone
For now a lot of this is not really tracking or tracked by a bunch of not connected outside firm. But with it, you'll be 100% trackable, especially if they want you to put your ID in your electronics and for signing up to accounts (UK is already talking about this)
They will know everything and nothing will prevent them from turning shit off due to wrong think. They already can do that to some level (Canada Convoy thing with donators having their bank frozen. Oh btw, nothing came from that hearing. Of course it didn't) but they could have absolutely unprecedented China level of controls
And then there's basically a nightmarish amount of fuckery that could go on with any leaks and having your ID spoofed and stolen
I'd like to remind everyone on the fedi that we're absolute undesirable no matter where we are on the political spectrum
@coolboymew@Moon@meso Gathering personal data was restricted further just recently. The EU privacy laws wpuld have to change a lot to accommodate something that drastic, I think.
@moth_ball@Eiregoat@Moon@meso there's no "we'll see", because once it's done, it's done. Also this, even under the best of intentions, the framework to do the most evil shit as easily as possible will be completely in place
@coolboymew@moth_ball@Moon@meso this shit has been documented since at least 2016, it's frustrating that there are so little unaware of it and the dangers of it.
