Former Norfolk Southern employee explains why he left the company.
Among the usual complaints (no time off, etc) he said they were in the process of removing the conductor position and having everything run by an engineer.
I don't know shit about trains so you tell me if thats good or bad.

@LionelValentineAborted its reported the train that derailed in East Palestine had one of its wheels on fire for 20 miles and also it was going twice the recommended speed limit on those tracks. Could this be due to a noob engineer not knowing what the fuck he's doing?

@Terry @LionelValentineAborted I mean look at air France 447 or worse the Amazon air crash with the unqualified diversity hire pilot.

@Terry Companies in general have been doing everything possible to remove roles, specialties, and divisions between workers throughout every level of every industry.
This is for several reasons. Most notably, it's so that the workers involved lose leverage in regards to negotiation and payment. If certain people are trained specifically for certain things, then they have a unique skillset that gives them leverage within their respective niche.
But if everyone can do everything, then that leverage is lost. Not only that, but you can get away with paying everyone shit for being generalists, instead of specialists as time goes on.
The official excuse is to ensure that operations run smoothly in the event of sickness or accident, but the reality is that it makes all workers across the board as disposable as possible, so that they can do away with anyone they want to, whenever they want to (especially in an at-will state like mine, where workers simply don't have rights).
Any potential consequences of this are moot to the corpo. Mainly because the consequences aren't going to be seen by them directly, as all they're going to see is numbers and costs going down.
What makes it all the funnier, is that this is exactly how shit is run in communist hellstopias. So whenever you see these posh pinkos saying "down with corpo," remember that corpos and commies are one and the same in terms of their organization and operation.

@LionelValentineAborted @Terry it could hit a minority community and all they'll do is whine more about oppression in the media while the culprits buy their ways out.
