   @PraxisOfEvil I really have become my dad, I guess. He always hated gaming because it’s a tremendous time sink, and it used to chafe me. Now that I’ve grown up I feel the same way, everywhere I look IRL I’m seeing guys spinning their wheels and whining about how their situation is stagnant and shitty, never, EVER realizing that they simply burn all their time on doing 1,000-hour playthroughs on some forgettable, unenjoyable bullshit of the quarter game they’ll never even THINK about in 10 years.

   I get it, they’re fun and all, I just don’t know how you don’t feel that shame in the back of your head when you power it down and look at the clock to see you spent 8 invaluable, irreplaceable hours of your youth on something so fruitless. I’ve tried here and there to get back into it, and I always come right back to the fact that I just don’t have the time to waste on it when it demands 100% of my attention.

   I’ve got a bunch of games I’m looking forward to playing w/ my kids, or in retirement or something, but all alone? It’s not a whole lot better than just masturbating for hours on end. At least THAT doesn’t cost $150 for all the DLC and season passes
