@TalmudTranslator @TornadoOfTerror I outgrew that, too. Too slow for me when I’m already taking on the risk of riding. Had an XR650R streeted early on, about 14 bikes back. I went through a series of dirt bikes before swearing it off, too many times stuck at the mercy of drivers with no control over my fate but slowing down. I grew to demand a lot of extra power to be able to move, lets you determine where you want to be in traffic. Power & mobility. Around here, I think the slowest road for a few miles is 40 mph, by the time you hit a highway most nimble bikes are wheezing at the top of 5th gear.
Not to mention I like being able to commute and leave my shit on the bike when I head inside. So I need a bunch of locking storage, ideally with a comfy backrest for the lady. we don’t have the tight terrain to make the most of a smaller, nimbler bike so I just kept moving up to make the most of our wide open streets. The 690 is pretty rad though, probably the best thumper out of the whole bunch on the market today. I don’t mind the F650gs, but those bimmer motors are just too sedate for me.
