   I can't remember if this is the thread we were talking about tuskeegees but here's a poast from 2022 talking about their actual performance by the numbers: Nothing too special, despite all the celebratory narratives today. They weren't abysmal fuckups, but they aren't the aces they tell you in school today, as if B17 jockeys were begging to have the red tails fly wingman or else they'd surely die.

   That document is apparently "9 myths of the tuskegee airmen". It's made by the college but predates the hysteria of recent years by a little bit, and should be a fairly even-handed recounting of how they fit into the overall kill tallies. It actually touches on the ROE everyone had in comparison, which is a good point to touch on in terms of escorts.
