   @KingDenizen I'd believe that conspicuous waste is a sign of luxury or status to some of them. One time the great aunts were making fun of me 'cause I was willing to take "old" foodstuffs off their hand, saying it's "not worth the time taking it out of the can just to feed the chickens". Even feeding garbage birds is a chance to spend more than you have to
