@DEERBLOOD @Twoinchdestroya @BigDuck Japan simply has better people on the case.
No matter what, the kind of person who looks at a camera and thinks “I should be a streamer” will be a lolcow to some unknown extent. People with true innate talent or super hard work wouldn’t waste their life making videos or trying to chase the horrifically meager earnings of a youtube career. They’d be putting out good work.
So youtubers trying to do both will almost undoubtedly suck at one or the other. Add in the fact that they make it all about teams and cliques instead of inherent quality, and nobody is there to provide a much-needed reality check and say “nigger, why should anyone pay for this? It looks low-quality”
Japs have a lot going on too, the doujin scene is much more active, so they have a wider pool of talent to draw from. Add in the fact they can sell stuff and very easily recoup their hard work by going to one of those fairs - if they’re quality enough to compete - and it makes sense why the unknown jap artist puts out a gorgeous piece of work while the obese yankee shits out one 8th-grade-art-class page every 3 months in between breathless coverage of the latest SJW outrage
(IDK many artists over there, pulled something to show the quality shift)
