Oh no, a new eruption started at 7:57 UTC today in the Grindavík area in Iceland.
Things had been relatively quiet since the previous eruption on Dec 18, 2023.
This follows an intense series of earthquakes at the Sundhnúksgígar crater row that began around 03:00 UTC.
The map below shows the approx. location of the new fissure, whose southern edge is about 1 km from Grindavík.
The 2nd map shows the approx. location of the underground magma dyke from last month.
