Imagine you're a political centrist in the 00s, you make hay because the political polarization that's developing in America is actually unpopular. You coast along until 2016, Trump is elected and you are still in the same place politically. Divisive politics are popular now. What's considered "left" has shifted so far that your neutral/optimistic outlook on Trump makes you no different from a nazi to them. If you eschew both neo-cons and the burgeoning alt-right, then the only people left to associate with are "moderate right" types like Glen Beck, and libertarian types like Rogan and Tom Woods. Fast forward through Trump and into the Biden presidency, is it any surprise you can talk all day long about how mainstream media lies to us but won't say that they're all controlled by the same people? Then you get to the end of 2023, jewish control has gone mask off, israel is just bombing entire neighborhoods while saying babies are being put in ovens with no evidence. Being neutral on jews/israel is unpopular but officially the safest position to take. You now have enough clout that you could feasibly get into political office but you have a website attached to your show that's maybe 5-10% people dropping redpills and merchant memes all day every day. What do you do?

You know how to make a lot of enemies all at once. That kind of authoritarian thinking doesn't mesh with the libertarian audience who, to their great credit, stand by the principle of anti-censorship. That's why there was virtually no moderation and it's the same reason why this "solution" that doesn't seem like it would fix anything is the only possible course of action. Kicking people off or keeping people out for legal speech is so untenable in this community that it's not even on the table.
