For future reference, the RadioShack PRO-94 does not simply let you "tune to a frequency". You must assign it to a bank channel. For example, to assign 121.5 to channel 1:

MAN, PROG, 1, PROG, 121.5, E, MAN

Then to actually tune to that channel:

MAN, 1, MAN

Dug out the RadioShack PRO-94 for the first time in awhile, and every time I do this, I am reminded of how utterly incomprehensible the UI is if you’re just picking it up.

@eniko Creepy, I just 10 minutes ago added Drumstick ice cream cones to my shopping list, after going "hmm, it's been decades since I've had one".

Apropos of nothing, the best ice cream is It's It on the US west coast. Ice cream sandwiched between two oatmeal cookies, and dipped in chocolate.

Here's the Octoprint timelapse of an 11 hour 3D print (of a wall-mounted Dewalt battery holder). I didn't do any particular prep for this and the camera is only vaguely pointing in the direction of the bed, but it came out somewhat pleasing. Enjoy!

@brooke Yeah, I found that RTL8156BG-based USB 2.5gbps adapters Just Work, and get full speed. I've got the USB-A version of the UGREEN adapter on Amazon, but they have a USB-C one too.

(Accidentally found it, even. I bought it a few years ago because it was cheap gigabit and used it in my router, only to find it was actually 2.5gbps when I got a 2.5gbps switch a few weeks ago.)

New D. B. Cooper conspiracy theory: he never jumped out of the plane. In fact, he's probably still hanging out in the plane, in an aircraft boneyard somewhere in the desert. Did the FBI thoroughly search the overhead compartments after the plane landed in Reno? The lavatory sign said it was unoccupied; did they just take that at face value?

#TIL when jets are being re-positioned at LAX from a gate, the callsign used to identify the aircraft with ATC is the originating gate, for example "American 42 alpha". Not sure what's used if it's coming from e.g. a maintenance hangar, or if this is a common nomenclature at other airports.

@dmarti My company's response to generative AI is "hell no, we actually make things", so it's nice being able to respond to people asking "can you turn on this vendor's AI thingy" with "hard no, company policy".

Occasionally I'll get "how far do I need to go up to get an exception?" and I'm like "Well, General Counsel wrote the policy. You could try his boss, the CEO."
