Has anyone else noticed a strong uptick in friend requests from oddly named, single user or few user instances, with account creation dates like 2018 and whatnot, since the beginning of the Trump administration?

Seems very much like they're preparing to astroturf fedi, hard, to me. My guess is that they're going to come in, espousing leftist rhetoric but are going to work in a coordinated effort to shift the Overton Window, and to infiltrate any attempts to organize.

Obviously this kind of thing has always been going on, here - let's be grownups about it, this is a fringe social media network, the feds have been here a long time - but I think the influence of social media giants within the current administration has led to a strong uptick in their focus on poisoning and destroying fedi.

Love you all. Stay safe. Think critically of everything. Do some snooping on domain ownership dates before you believe an account creation dates. WHOIS, etc

How is Musk's ownership of Twitter while involved in government not a violation of the first amendment? When he bans people, that's literally the government suppressing speech. I'm sure someone who actually knows anything about US law will be able to explain it, because as a stoned person with no education in law, it seems fucked up

@matrix that's regular practice for YouTubers. They have a bunch of titles and thumbnails on deck, when they release a video, and they cycle through them, to improve engagement. Oftentimes you'll see 3-4 different thumbnails and titles for the same video in the first 24 hours
