even @timonsku was involved at some point to help figure out how to drive those new displays because we were just scratching our heads about the sketchy and pasted together "documentation"

this process started in october 2023. it took forever for them to get the samples ready and to give us some of the info we needed to make them work and we had to figure out the rest ourselves. also, when finally everything was ready they suddenly raised the price so we're getting 350 instead of 500. every second day i'm pestering about the status of this shipment and i'm assured it's moving and will be trackable any day now... meanwhile they kept our $15000 for a year in the bank.

@bamboombibbitybop we'll see. we don't really have legal leverage overseas

our main display supplier decided at some point in the process that they won't ship us JDI displays, because they're EOL and they can't guarantee the quality. so they came up with some way to adapt another display with the same resolution and exact same dimensions, but it needed a flex cable adapter, different mipi dsi init code and a PWM backlight control that we were able to offload to the RP2040 system controller (this will require different firmware for those models).

we used all the displays that were good in the backup display shipment. i ordered more backup displays from 2 more suppliers now while the main/bulk display supplier is still letting us wait (we ordered and paid 12 months ago from them).

from the first backup display supplier, we got a box of 100 displays and 66 were broken. here are some pictures that show how broken the worst ones are... so we're burning money on broken displays while looking for more.

some stats re MNT Pocket Reform @ Crowd Supply (with the data that i have access to):
—there are 30 unshipped crowdfunded devices
—there are 78 unshipped post-crowdfunding devices
we have 51 devices on the way to Mouser (they do the fulfillment). 57 to go to reach parity.

@keko we'll start to ship them as soon as we've reached parity with CS orders and get various display stock, so probably starting in 2-3 weeks

another 33x Hyper MNT Pocket Reforms (various color/switch combinations) went through final assembly and QA today and are ready to ship out on monday to Crowd Supply

@sad_electronics does the usb module have any active circuitry like a redriver or it's passive?

do i know a cbase berlin member who could vouch for a mnt slash hardware happy hour event organized by @bnys?

a little shipment of 18 MNT Pocket Reforms went out the door today and is now on the way to Mouser/CS

@sontags very sorry, but we don't do pickups in general. yes, the adapters are here and they will be added to the shop soon, at the moment we are a bit swamped with work.
