I have mixed feelings about this! It doesn't hold your address etc, but passports have RFID chips in them, so they can be scanned at a distance. Though usually a grocery isn't up to that nonsense. -

Push them to do so.
There's no law requiring any of them not to store the scanned data, and they're definitely taking advantage. -
