   Hey friends. Reminder not to let any retailer scan your ID. If they need your birthdate, they can manually enter it.
   Push them to do so.
   There's no law requiring any of them not to store the scanned data, and they're definitely taking advantage.

     @silvermoon82 @Genderqueerwolf I've hesitated showing my DL as IS for a while. A passport card is valid ID, and holds a lot less than a DL.

     There's a *whole lot* of info in that 2d barcode on the back of a modern ID card! I spent some time with a barcode scanner and mag strip reader a few years ago and it's just wild! You don't want them recording it.

     I have mixed feelings about this! It doesn't hold your address etc, but passports have RFID chips in them, so they can be scanned at a distance. Though usually a grocery isn't up to that nonsense.

     The supermarket rewards she must get have got to be astounding!

     @murph @silvermoon82 @Genderqueerwolf my passport card can't be scanned at my supermarket (Shop Rite, in New York) they have to call over a manager to manually enter my birthday for alcohol purchases.
     For the store card, I use Jenny's Number:

     @Genderqueerwolf @silvermoon82 I used my #flipperzero to check my passport. The full one registered NFC, (when open) but the card showed nothing. neither one registered anything RFID

     @Genderqueerwolf @silvermoon82 But I don't think the card does. I suggest to people to get it as an additional ID. Easier to carry than the full one, and less info than DL.

     US passports have documented RFID, have had for quite a while.
