So I'm in a hotel lobby with my Pocket Reform (lol, don't ask) and the WiFi problem was just signal strength, solved. Known problem. Tl;dr will upgrade to a311d when home.

Lol, had to apt get g++ and Arduino.

Compiled ntvcm, and am now able to run WordStar on Pocket Reform, which I assume is everyone's true goal.

Anyone have the resources to read this half inch 1600 bpi tape from 1987?

It's a backup tape of J. M. Hill's (Univ of AZ, Astronomy) FORTH drive, dated 20 sep 1987.

Probably nothing earth shattering on the tape. Seven inch reel with 2 cm (thickness) on it, probably one megabyte.

Even raw block dumps would would be ok.

No idea what hardware it might be from. Probably not hard to figure out.

I don't need the artifact back.

Ok -- digiKam is EXCELLENT photo management software. I've got about 10 hours in on tagging, which is just tedious but straightforward and necessary work.

I'm doing all my "road trip" photos first, about 1600. I feel like I know them better now and some tests of locating things is a big success.

A lot of care has gone into data integrity. Built in code for migrating and exporting databases. This is lovely stuff. I'm now a huge fan and kinda awed that this is free software.
