     I think you should look up "FidoNet" 😊

     Granted, it was "distributed" and not "Federated", but if you compare technologies available at the time, I think you'll find similarities there too.

     Regardless, we're moving in a good direction!

     FidoNet was designed to be totally center less, with nodelist creation done at multiple nodes including all of them. But it got detoured by powermad region coordinators because of design flaws and my naivety. Oh well! Lol.

     (Joho: imagine if each nets nodelist fragment was (more and less) a post in an echo conference... The echo would have been a nodelist.)

     My scheme was much stupider though. I didn't think of the above til later
