>Men have hobbies that give them happiness
>Women make fun of men for the hobby
>Men don't get involved with women
>Look at hobby, still gives men happiness
>Men pick the hobby
Replace "Women" with anything else applicable. Society, media, government, etc.

Cayhr (cayhr@varishangout.net)'s status on Saturday, 16-Nov-2024 11:57:37 JST Cayhr @mischievoustomato This woman is cruel AF. It’s one thing to say “I don’t understand or like your hobbies but I am trying my best to learn about them, keep sharing with me.” Instead, she says herself: she snapped. What in the world could she possibly be “snapping” about? Her not having a billionaire CEO to show off to her girlfriends, but instead a modest, nerd husband that shares his passionate love with her?
This woman’s anecdote about his completely demoralized personality shift hurt to read. God speed…

Cayhr (cayhr@varishangout.net)'s status on Thursday, 14-Nov-2024 11:46:45 JST Cayhr @TrueMasterCole This meme with GRRM is great. I am a true believer in universal truths and wisdom. It will probably take millenia, eons, or a totally new species to make the ones we know rooted in tradition irrelevant, which my lifespan and many others will not even be a conceivable iota within that time. Or, I guess, total dystopian control lol. If our wisdom rooted in tradition also extends to universal truths, why not maintain it? I never found Game of Thrones appealing for these reasons.
I find the demoralization both sad and disappointing.

Cayhr (cayhr@varishangout.net)'s status on Thursday, 14-Nov-2024 09:20:19 JST Cayhr @Giganova8 Man that’s such a disappointing sentiment. Look at these responses.
Foreigners are too romantic and annoying
Romantic? Sure. Romance is what gives us life, pursuit of greatness. It is akin to beauty. However, annoying? If you view foreigner’s concern over the worsening of something we hold (or held) respect for, then I think in the future we will stop reading and watching things from Japan and instead look to Korea and China. From Japanese roots, Korea and China will take over the anime and manga industry. Look at how much real estate Blue Archive and Nikke have in Japan, despite being Korean.
Do foreigners like easy-to-understand happy endings?
Sometimes, and easy-to-understand is not always alongside happy. I accept bad endings if the story is good, but not bad endings or depressing stories that are a reflection of the author’s own miserable life. Xenoblade 2 has a prequel that you know going into it has a bad ending, but you still play it because in the future, there is hope and light despite the terrible things that happen. That is what makes us human, to strive despite the bleakness.
Overseas otaku are like old-fashloned otaku, or rather, there sensibilities are about 20 to 30 years behind the times.
This is stated like it’s a bad thing, but actually isn’t. If you change for the worse, not changing means I am better.

Cayhr (cayhr@varishangout.net)'s status on Wednesday, 13-Nov-2024 13:40:04 JST Cayhr @bronze I followed the tried and true mantra in the 3d modeling community: “Make your donut.” I started there just so that I could even figure out how to use Blender in the first place. There is a tutorial series by Blender Guru (https://invidious.varis.social/watch?v=B0J27sf9N1Y&list=PLjEaoINr3zgEPv5y–4MKpciLaoQYZB1Z) that all new 3d modelers can use as structured learning to jumpstart the journey.
After that, I didn’t use anymore tutorial series, I just looked around for the odd video and forum post to solve certain problems I didn’t know the solutions to (usually Blender esoteric functions). Once the donut was done and I had graduated from the kiddie pool with enough muscle memory to navigate the program, my friend recommended I learn to sculpt first. However, I wanted to fast track my learning so I turned on hard mode.
I embraced trial by fire and learned topology by modeling Yolanda vertex by vertex. After that, I learned enough to UV unwrap and apply her facial details and areola, how vertex and weight painting worked, how to rig the model (with all the advanced goodies such as inverse kinematics, shape keys, and notably drivers), and now I’m where I am now.
Remember that my OC… demanded unique solutions. There was also a lot of trial and error. I version controlled my .blend file painstakingly and very carefully. Be patient and VERY cautious of large sweeping operations like mass deletions and joining and separating objects. I would best describe the realm of 3d as “deeply connected,” as it is very easy to inadvertently screw something else up. There are also a lot of concepts that are kind of “hard to see,” such as vertex groups, because if you were to unwrap a vertex group that you named “Body.Torso”, it would unroll into a gigantic list of hundreds of coordinate trios. That’s not something the human mind can really parse, if that makes sense. In fact, 3d modeling really reminds me of programming. It’s all about your foundation as you add features and functionality on top while you trust the computer voodoo does what you wanted it to.

I used her in the beginning to advance my illustration and now 3d modeling and animation capabilities that I intend to use for more professional things in the future. Gotta start somewhere!

Cayhr (cayhr@varishangout.net)'s status on Wednesday, 13-Nov-2024 11:51:33 JST Cayhr Testing out rendering with a simple turntable. The model needs refining but I think that’s something that I’ll relegate to over-time. Make some adjustments here or there, maybe I learn something later on that I implement, etc. So far, I’m about 80% of the way to “satisfied.”
What’s left…? More detailed nipples, a shape key for inverted nipples, teeth and tongue, and then for “future endeavors” genitalia modeling, I guess?
I’m very satisfied with my Blender progress. I will be utilizing these skills well in the future :akko_yay:

Cayhr (cayhr@varishangout.net)'s status on Wednesday, 06-Nov-2024 09:57:57 JST Cayhr [Hyper warning] Two months of my efforts have borne fruit. :akko_yay: I fully sub-d modeled, sculpted, and rigged her from scratch! Going into this, I had ZERO ability to even navigate Blender. The first thing I did was make my donut, then I was grilled by a friend on topology, and finally I went and learned everything else just using tutorials online.
I still need to do a lot of detail like texturing her eyes and rigging her face, but with what I have I’m like 90% complete with my 3d learning project. Over time I want to make more outfits and build up the pose library so I can effectively do what usukeninja does (he is a 3d artist that sculpts people’s commissions and does a spin-around reel for social media). Look at this grown man, playing doll with his digital sex goddess.
However… posting on the socials is not my main goal. Next I need to figure out how to sculpt clothes around the body, and then attach the clothes and accessory armatures to the main body armature. I’m trying to establish a 3d model standard and implement clothes destruction for a professional video game project :guraKekw:
