Sepia search is probably the nearest to searching everything on PeerTube, but the problem is the low quality of search results precisely because it searches everything (except for accounts on their blocklist).
I've tried an alternative approach on https://fedi.video where there's an allowlist of accounts, so a greatly reduced amount of search results but a much higher quality.
As Google/YouTube seems to be up to new shenanigans (https://mastodon.bentasker.co.uk/@ben/111442472204337543), a reminder that the Fediverse has an alternative called PeerTube:

You can follow and interact with PeerTube accounts/videos entirely within Mastodon, you only need to join PeerTube if you want to publish videos or playlists.
If you do want to publish videos, there's a guide here:

Hi Nils,
Here's a list of all the ways to discover people on here:
Hey Tatjna,
There are several specific things you have to do when transferring your account. I've done a simple step-by-step complete guide here:
https://fedi.tips/transferring-your-mastodon-account-to-another-server/
If this doesn't work, let me know!
Not as far as I know.
p.s. When admins click on a post or account, they have some extra options that ordinary users don't see. They can open any user's account in the moderation interface, which gives them these options:
Sensitive - Force all this user's media attachments to be flagged as sensitive
Limit - Prevent user from being able to post with public visibility, hide their posts and notifications from people not following them
Suspend - Prevent any interaction from or to this account and delete its contents
Ahh yeah, that's true, a server-level limit is a more likely explanation.
If you've ever had follow requests even when you don't require follow requests, it's probably because an admin/mod marked that account as "sensitive".
Admins have some extra features that users can't see.
When admins click on a post's options, one of the extra ones is "open moderator interface for (whoever)".
This takes them to a page where they can do all kinds of stuff like automatically marking the posts as sensitive, or limiting what the account can do on that server, or suspending the account altogether.
There's a similar admin interface for remote servers as well.
Yeah, good point, think that's just been added in newer updates?

It's my personal opinion, based on having been here for many years. That's why I put a CW saying "personal opinion".
It's not about "owning" stuff, it's about protecting something precious that doesn't exist anywhere else.
There are already enormous networks for influencers, algo and centralised networks. Why does this place have to become one too?
It's like going into a vegetarian restaurant and demanding it serves meat.
@moira @RufusJCooter @TechConnectify
"Why is adding the ability to curate your notifications a _bad_ thing for _low_ follower count users? "
Automatic algorithms aren't curation.
Curation means a human looking at stuff and choosing what they want.
"Why is having control over _what you get notified about_ ... somehow elitist?"
You can already choose what you get notified about. I did a post about it yesterday.
You're talking about giving away control to an algorithm.
@TechConnectify @RufusJCooter @moira
"If you don't want us here just fucking say it."
I'm not sure who you mean by "us"?
I think it's great you're on here! Happy to see YouTubers on here, and it's great if you can make a living from it! I'd be sad to see you go.
If you're not happy here, that's sad, and what you say about this place is your prerogative.
It would be equally sad though if someone with a dozen followers was unhappy here.
@RufusJCooter @moira @TechConnectify
Speaking as a larger account, the idea of designing in favour of accounts of a large size feels very unfair and misguided. The additional reach of large scale follows is a privilege, it's not some kind of disability or burden.
There are already plenty of social networks build around the needs of "influencers", the Fediverse is supposed to be an alternative to that kind of thing.
@RufusJCooter @moira @TechConnectify
I don't think it's a good idea to design a social network around the needs of people with exceptional numbers of followers.
If you want to mainly have one-directional traffic, there are already many broadcast media available for people who want to follow rather than interact.
The idea of social networks is supposed to be about accounts being treated equally regardless of how many followers you have, especially on the Fediverse.
I guess only action in that situation is ask the admin to have some kind of defederation of the instance?
Another approach in longer term might be allowlists, they could provide safer servers (with lower reach being the compromise).
Think @gotosocial has allowlists on its roadmap?
Oh no ๐ Sorry to hear.
Out of interest, how did they reply to you if the reporting was anonymous? Or did they guess from the contents of the report that it was yours?
You can ask your admin directly if you want an update? That's the advantage of being on a smaller server ๐
The admin has a private interface that records all moderation actions and reports, they can look it up there.
(For anyone wondering who their admin is, the admin's account and public email address is on the about page of your server, usually the server's website plus /about at the end. For example in Steven's case it would be https://sfba.social/about)
@mrvirite @TechConnectify @interpipes
Well, how do you know an algo does it correctly?
There are going to be possibly very subtle differences between a reply that has a valid point and one that doesn't.
If the algo gets it wrong, you are unlikely to ever know about it.
