@lanodan @coolboymew @p A lot of the archive sites are either cloudflared (with no way to complete the captchas I’ve ever found), or constantly changing URLs. I really see no value to be had in going through the trouble for a site that bans Tor for stupid reasons anyway.

@dcc @charlie_root I mean you say that but there are some older configs I used (can’t remember now what they were) and changing them would have required not just a rewrite of my configs but of my shell scripts as well.

Unless they’ve streamlined it since then. I think the last time was ~5 years ago.

@dcc @charlie_root ty. Do you know if it will work with original yt-dl? I’ve wanted to install yt-dlp for years but trying to edit the configs was a fucking nightmare so I never followed through.

@Zerglingman The whole of the internet was good while it lasted tbqh and tbf. Still some small corners worth visiting but everything worth being indexed is downloadable anymore.

@Zerglingman I know that it’s fast and convenient and looks less ugly, but unless you know regex by heart parsing a complex regex is like trying to look into a black hole.

Then you gotta look up a guide, and figure it out.

I just feel like for loops, ifs with a lot of conditional statements, or anything really with more readability is preferable.

But you know my skill level as a programmer so this might be another skill issue on my part.
