@gajim ah yes that's right, I forgot I'm using nightlies. crap, I'm sorry for being unfair. I'll check out the flatpak again then. thanks for all the useful information (for all my kvetching, I like gajim a lot and want to see it succeed)

The only plugins available in flatpak are PGP and OMEMO. What about the latex plugin, syntax highlighting, url expander.... there are lots of nice plugins for gajim, but none of the cool ones are in flatpak.
I'm using Ubuntu 22.04. If it's a packaging error, that's good to hear!

With other pieces of software I use, a minor version increase, like from 1.7.2 to 1.7.3, would not require upgrading a core system component like python.
The bump was not to python 3.10, it was to python 3.11:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
python3-omemo-dr : Depends: python3 (>= 3.11~) but ...Yes, it's been out awhile too, but the linux distribution I use has not added it to their distro yet. So you're forcing upgrades on people who want bug fixes that go faster than their own linux distro goes.
I've never had any luck with the flatpak version because none of the plugins are available for it (or at least, I've never found a good guide describing how to get plugins to work in the flatpak).

Y'all keep doing this to me. For awhile it was some issue with nbxmpp. Then it was something else I forget. Now this. I feel like you should calm down with your release cycles here and stop forcing people to upgrade every dependency just to use the latest minor release version.
