It's, divide and conquer. Or as the old Microsoft term, "Embrace, Extend, Extinguish."

They set the rules, anyone or any instance that argues against it, or any instance that gives any form of slight against them, will have you and your instance added to their massive controlled Blocklist.

It is using fear to control the smaller instances in the fediverse and they want smaller instances to fear and cow tow to them or face the Blocklist.
