One of the slides mentions a few unfulfilled (yet) niches using AP, among which are:

- file sharing
- instant messaging

The presenter argues that AP can handle those use-cases. However, I do believe in leaving those two to 1) torrenting (over i2p, for bonus points), 2) matrix, respectively.

@silverpill @bob sounds like my experience with mitra already. Setting it up was a breeze.

@silverpill Currenlty my mitra server doesn't support I2P. If he posts something under your mention, am I going to be able to see it?

@Saki I like I2P. I use it for my torrenting activities, it is great---no need for VPNs for torrenting anymore.

However, Tor has its own advantages, being more reachable by a greater number of people who might not be as tech savvy as us, is one of them. Like it or not, Tor's abundant exit nodes is one other advantage that it has over I2P. In the case of something like mitra.social microblogging service, if one hosts a onion-only instance of it, Tor allows him to federate with clearnet peers over the exit nodes, and thus allow the onion-only instances of mitra/pleroma to be also in connect with the greater fediverse.

Hey I hate the DNS like the next hacker. I think we can migrate to Tor HiddenServices and use Onion URLs for our mitra instances---if the need be. Afaik, mitra allows tor-only instances (they can federate to other onion instances, and/or to the clearnet ones over the tor exit nodes).

@silverpill any example of a user from a tor-only mitra/pleroma instance that I can test following?

@silverpill I am having trouble logging into my account from Husky on f-droid. I enter my instance name, https://mitra.karapara.net and then a chromium windown appears with two input boxes. To the above I insert my username, and to the below I insert my password. Then I tap on the "Submit" button.

However, nothing happens afterwards.

I am routing Husky's connection through Orbot on android. Might this be the reason for the unresponsiveness during the log-in?

@silverpill well, I just tried to login to my account on Husky, without Orbot routing the app's connection.

And it is as unresponsive as was before.

@silverpill can I also start a thread on lemmy instances? For example, can I start a thread on @monero from my own mitra post?

Mitra is fucking cool.

However, I wish pressing Ctrl + Enter would allow me to hit the "Publish" button on the post compose box.
