I know open development happens in pull requests, but discussion around development happens in many places.

I'm not asking you to join my discord or matrix, I want to come to you, but it seems like you don't have a real time platform, so I guess I will have to resort to inefficient methods like this post.

I'm thinking of a whole new approach to comments in @pixelfed

Imagine being able to delegate the ability to delete comments (on your posts) to your trusted friends

Or hide or reject comments containing a specific keyword

But not least, using privacy preserving sentiment analysis to automatically hide posts if you choose

We can take this in a whole new direction with proper comment controls, and proper mod tools based on your feedback!

I get a lot of requests for people wanting to re-join pixelfed.social after permanently deleting their account.

Maybe usernames should be re-usable after a period of 30 days.

@pixelfed Also do feel free to suggest more improvements or call me out on specific problems and I will do my best to prioritize and accommodate your feedback and requests granted they are reasonable and actionable!

As developers, it’s our responsibility to take a proactive approach to safety and moderation, and while I don’t have the resources that some other projects do, I have dropped the ball in this regard so I’m focused on improving this in Pixelfed and would love your feedback!

This isn’t a new feature, our current implementation is binary (enable/disable comments)

The new comment controls will be released in the next app build due out later today 🚀

Spam is much more noticeable on Pixelfed, as they say, a picture is worth a thousand words.

This is why @pixelfed has the best in-class detection and mitigation, and the tech we use isn't new or fancy!
