I would have wished for a broad discussion among multiple projects (including a view on their history) instead of "look, here is our implementation". That's all.
@dansup i am not considering myself a protocol developer. There are people with decades of experience like @Mike Macgirvin 🖥️ or @silverpill who has some great ideas too. Things are usually discussed on fedi or socialhub afaik.
@dansup from my point of view, implementing a protocol requires a very different skill set than developing a protocol. So no, i do not consider myself a protocol developer.
As you know, comment policy was not part of the original protocol as released in 2018.
I know open development happens in pull requests, but discussion around development happens in many places.
I'm not asking you to join my discord or matrix, I want to come to you, but it seems like you don't have a real time platform, so I guess I will have to resort to inefficient methods like this post.
Are you on XMPP or something? Like can't you see the point here?
@dansup as mentioned, i am not the one you need to talk to. I am just observing how things are currently evolving and worried that fedi will end up with a number of incompatble implementations of a imo crucial feature.
@dansup@mario FEP-5624 is not my proposal, it was submitted by Mastodon devs (they are present on SocialHub but not very active). I don't even like it, in my opinion Conversation Containers by @mikedev is better because it can be used for public and private groups too.
I'm participating in several AP / fedi matrix chats, but discussions there are less productive because of their ephemeral nature. Besides being good place for long thoughtful discussions, SocialHub also supports ActivityPub (beta, via Discourse plugin) so you can test interop between it and your groups implementation (if you support FEP-1b12).
