Seeing some really cool Stories on @pixelfed, keep it up!

I had a family emergency yesterday and was unable to go through with the #Androidlust release as planned, it will be released tonight at 10pm MST

Push notifications are coming along, we’re going with a similar approach as Mastodon meaning 3rd party apps that support Masto push notifications will work with @pixelfed

I’m working on my own APNS/GCM gateway too, using async php so it will be easy to deploy, though only app devs need to run this. I will run a community gateway for the official apps, along with a separate one for my own instances

I spent my late teens and early adult years dreaming of creating a startup, getting funding and all that

Fast forward to the present, I no longer strive for fame and fortune, and ironically, VCs keep reaching out about @pixelfed

Dreams can change

YSK: Long pressing your own story will take you to the "Add Story" screen rather than loading your Story.

On a side note, swiping left should close the Story, will add that tonight

I've said the same about https://fedidb.org and https://fediverse.info

I realize how fundamentally important it is for me to remain a neutral and unbiased influence in these projects

I don't want Pixelfed to gain an unfair advantage just because I happen to be the same developer

Ideally, FediDB and the other non-pixelfed projects could find a long term home with a trusted organization that answers to the people

It's just the right thing to do ❤️

I have no doubt that Sup will grow beyond @pixelfed and I'm okay with that

I'd like to work my magic to build the best fediverse messenger

But after that, I'd be open to transferring ownership to a neutral entity that has the fediverses best interests in mind

I love building these services, but I worry about the long term implications of how centralized they are around me, I don't want that, these tools belong to the people, not a single person

Sup will be the iMessage of the fediverse

Expanding beyond platform limitations and providing a cohesive and curated experience for everyone

I can't wait to share some exciting updates before the beta launch later this month

pixelfam, the iOS build has been shipped and approved by Apple

The latest build allows you to add to your story using photos or videos from your camera roll, and improved story playback.

Many @pixelfed Story improvements shipping soon!

New build for iOS rolling out shortly 😎

Working on a new @pixelfed resource website, in between other things.

We already have a Help Center built in to every pixelfed instance but it's more difficult to update across instances, translate and doesn't have search, this will do all that and more!

P.S - The design is based off https://getbootstrap.com/docs/5.3/examples/starter-template/, a custom font and a little color go a long way 😎

I've been thinking of making a @pixelfed profile QR code generator website, and also want to document/blog about how I did it

htmx is something I've wanted to try out, and I think kitten would be the perfect fit for this!

The fediverse needs to reflect and take a page from indigenous culture in regards to elders and the knowledge they pass down

With fediblock, and intra-project drama erupting so frequently, it's as if we're a bunch of immature kids who need an adult to step in and remind us of respect, compassion, and most of all, community

I get that we can't always find common ground, and that's okay, but we should be more considerate to each other and try to find amicable solutions together, less ego more ❤️
