The policy would be completely compatible by the Second Amendment: the current Supreme Court majority will enthusiastically protect property rights, such as the right to refuse to sell.

This would only be a start, of course, since we would have to outlaw gun imports, create a punitive tax on ammo, and then do something to address the oversupply of guns already in private hands. But it would, as the linked article suggests, create some breathing space.

The most sensible #GunControl proposal I've ever heard: let's nationalize the U.S. gun industry.

The American domestic gun industry could be bought for about $5 billion. The U.S. government could find this amount in the sofa cushions.

The newly nationalized industry would not maximize profits. Instead, it would drop all sales of semi-auto weapons to civilians. It would require background checks. It would drop its support of the NRA.

They're suspended from my little instance, and I see they're also suspended on hoosier.social, which explains why you can't see their posts or search out their accounts. So they can't do their harrassment and intimidation on your timeline, which is both "working as designed" and cold comfort.

You heard right. There are lists of servers that harbor fascists and whatnot, which you can find on hashtag FediBlock. Mostly they're an island defederated from the rest of us.

I don't speak for Gargron@mastodon.social but my understanding is that Mastodon is designed to avoid making it easy to create big hateful pile-ons a la Twitter.

They can still do it the hard way, which I imagine is: screenshot your post by hand and paste the screenshot into their Nazi social media, and shout about it to other Nazis. I don't see a technical fix for that, other than hiding our posts from the public, which defeats our mission.
