@coolboymew I'm very unhappy with these developments as well, but -- without being im the games industry or any deeper knowledge -- I assume that most, if not all, of these sins are rather pushed by the publisher and not the devs themselves.
Optimization takes time and time is money. Most likely (and that is something I have seen as a non-games dev) business decisions are put above customer satisfaction. 😩
Patches and pirated games don't make money.

@coolboymew definitely not an excuse for abusive work conditions or any other mistreatment of people. Solely talking about technical issues.

@aral @skyglobe there is actually a tool called 'gsudo' that does that for you. It'll prompt you for elevated permissions and then run the command as administrator. 🙂
I use that a lot with chocolatey (a Win package manager).
