@lain@kaia this might be a great business model for someone out there though, sell your business legally to a third party for a few bucks and have the proof your business was worthless, then buy it back from said entity after you've moved under a formal arrangement with some nominal fee.
@coolboymew This makes me want a gritty detective noir starring eggman called Hard Boiled. “A thousand doorways in this city and she just had to awkwardly duck into mine.”
The RapidBlock Project is something different: humans are in the loop at every step of the decision-making process, and the only thing that is automated is the actual propagation of the decisions. Moderation is hard, especially good moderation. Moderation is a full-time job, and many Fediverse admins aren’t taking up that mantle of responsibility. We are trying to build a central moderation team with a clear, published rationale for our blocking criteria and a clear dispute process for remediating mistaken blocks.
not a paragraph later…
But a central moderation council would be toothless without solidarity. … In the RapidBlock context, solidarity means this: by standing alongside the RapidBlock Project’s moderation decisions, you as an admin are forcing abusers and harassers to treat you with more respect, because they will be forced to acknowledge that losing you means losing everyone that they want to hurt, even the people who they haven’t gotten around to hurting yet.
So, humans are involved at every level, diligently trying to make “good” moderation decisions and thus prevent a hivemind making “bad” decisions- however acting or speaking against the hivemind, refusing to outsource all your agency as a moderator to them, well that’s just not solidarity and therefore you’re out of the hive. Surrender to the modborg, all your networks are their birthright.
