Gotta figure out how to set avatars for group chats in XMPP. I supposedly have the required module installed and properly enabled in my config file (mod_vard_muc) but I still can't set anything.

XMPP is working.

@quad@akko.quad.moe Sony is weird with their mobile devices. I have a Sony Xperia phone and I love it, but then Sony decided to discontinue sales in my country and they abandoned their niche industrial design and styling they were carving out for themselves as well as took a L on their cameras in their latest version. It's just strange, they can't see to stick with anything long term or commit.

@yakumo_izuru@misskey.m544.net I don't think it's even an option for my distribution unless somehow installing it from source or whatever whatever. My love is Haiku/BeOS. I really wish there was a Linux DE that adopted its aesthetic and design and functionality. But, I'm not super picky. I do appreciate the level of polish and functionality provided by Gnome and KDE.

@yakumo_izuru@misskey.m544.net What DE do you rock? I use KDE at home, and KDE is super solid as well. But, with their newest Plasma release they really screwed up a lot of their mobile support features. Screen wouldn't auto-rotate anymore, touch control/gestures were failing, and I've never been able to get a virtual keyboard to work on KDE. My laptop is a 13-inch 2-in-1 device---I often pitch it up "tent" mode for content consumption at night in bed---so Gnome actually works really well for interfacing with it like that.

@yakumo_izuru@misskey.m544.net Basically, yes. It is very nice on my 2-in-1 device. I really wish they did more to improve the virtual keyboard and touch functionalities to behave more like a tablet if they're going to continue going in this direction. It'd make sense to go "all in" on it vs. half-assing UI/UX as both a traditional computer interface and a touch-friendly, handheld-friendly interface.

Gnome notifications are actually pretty obnoxious. Large notifications right in the top center of the screen. Would be a lot better if the notifications were smaller, more discreet, and off to a corner somewhere or something.

Are you all able to see the custom emojis in my username or do they just show up as text? I.e., do you see ":verified_2:" or just ":verified_2:"?
