Sorry I don't mean to call people out and I'm sure there are probably all sorts of reasons people feel it was valid at some point to have a Threads account but to me people performatively saying they're going to delete their account *now* is like saying...... Ok guys I'm not sure the Third Reich was a totally cool idea and I'm reluctantly going to take the uniform off now and stop supporting the persecution of people who look different from me. I suppose it's better than remaining on that platform? It's just weird that you're broadcasting you've been totally fine with everything else upto this point. Like one shit in the pool is fine. A thousand floaters is fine. But when the water has been totally replaced with human excrement.... er, guys, I'm actually a bit cross now that I'm covered from head to foot in shit and I'm thinking I might actually get out at some point.
With everything that's going on in the world, at least Birdseye - a self-proclaimed ethical fishing business, owned by a massive conglomerate, previously fined billions for fraud, artificially inflating the value of produce, price fixing, overturning ethical standards, discrimination, hazardous working conditions, destroying culturally significant land for offices and public health violations - but apart from all that (and all of the product recalls for E.coli, Salmonella and fatal bronchiolitis), an ethical fishing company who use the highly destructive bottom trawlers (responsible for damaging up to half of Norway’s cold water corals reefs), but apart from that an ethical fishing company who buy a third of their produce from pirates who deal in illegal catches and over-fishing.....have commissioned someone to spend 100 hours to make a cute miniature sandwich! Aah, sweet!
It's quite funny to me that the country's national state sponsored radio openly acknowledged daily that virtually everyone in the country is desperately unhappy at the moment and even runs features on how we might be able to artificially increase our happiness, even in the face of it all. Why has it been normalised for a whole country to be sad. If you were looking at it from a biological/ecological viewpoint you would say that system is malfunctioning, you'd then look for what was making it sick and fix it. Instead we're listening to the virus tell us what to do. Like a warped game of 'Simon Says', only Simon is an utter bastard.
I had a quick look and couldn't see any washing-based solutions in here. Or were you just pointing out that scientists are working on things other than AI and apps?
Hi, I'm Ben. I'm a heady mix of a serious responsible grown up man and a stupid man-baby idiot with delusions of grandeur. I'm a big nerd, really into music, cooking, books, films and scifi. I hate/love running and generally love being outdoors. 🌱He/HimWant to buy me a coffee? https://ko-fi.com/thebreadmonkey
