@Loukas @jon I've only posted my blog posts recently to Twitter. I do not engage to any conversations, I do not use like or retweet, I just post my links and that's it.

For each and every update I post to Twitter I get dozens of "f*ck off" comments and other low-level shite... I feel like Twitter is not worth it for even the littlest amount of posting because of these "reactions". It's like 4chan but worse. Whenever I open Twitter I feel like I'm in the dark web where bad people do whatever they want and say whatever they want. It's a very ominous feeling and I don't like it.

@charliebrownau I know there are cheap storage boxes, I rent one from Hetzner, couple of bucks per 1TB.

But there are no cheap UNLIMITED storage. Only Google has those.

@charliebrownau Well the point is that any kind of auto payment is good and any kind of unlimited and safe backup method is good.

I don't know where I can get cheap unlimited space that is not a big tech cloud. Do you?

Ways to make your #Mastodon instance future proof:

+ Make sure it's financed by a company/organisation/team with auto payments on solid bank account, do not depend on donations
+ Use cloud based and/or scalable storage, make sure it's big enough from the very start
+ Use sensible data retention and cleanup
+ Make sure your database has space to grow
+ Scale up resources when necessary
+ Make sure auto-backups and heartbeats are set up
+ Use scripts and automation
+ Have a plan for easy migrating in the future
+ Accept that all life and websites have a finite time in this universe #MementoMori
