Friends of mine are currently preventing the Tesla Gigafactory from being expanded in Berlin by occupying the forests scheduled for being cut down.

They call themselves a water occupation due to Tesla's overuse of the local water supply causing droughts and disastrous effects to the local environment. Follow them here: @teslastoppen

Hallo alle Fedi-Admins die Probleme mit Spam haben!

Ich habe heute den gesamten Tag an einer Spam-Liste gearbeitet und 65 Instanzen herausgefunden welche mit dem Spam nicht aufgehört haben! Ich habe die Instanzen in einer Liste zusammengestellt welche diese stummschaltet, nicht deföderiert:

Ist diese Liste importiert ist ein Großteil des Spams vorbei. Das ganze ist für euch leicht, geht mit einem klick! Zudem wird keinerlei Instanz für immer geblockt, keinerlei Follower etc. zerstört oder deföderiert, sondern nur stummgeschaltet. Das ist sehr leicht umkehrbar.

Ihr könnet diese Liste einfach importieren, indem ihr auf https://yourinstance.tld/admin/export_domain_blocks/new geht und yourinstance.tld durch die Domain derer Instanz ersetzt, von der ihr der Administrator seid!

Alternativ könnt ihr auch auf Einstellungen => Moderation => Föderation => Importieren drücken, um diese Liste zu importieren.

Beachtet, dass zwar alle Instanzen mit einem Klick importiert werden können, dass aber diese Instanzen einzeln entfernt werden müssen, wenn der Spam vorbei ist.

Beachtet auch, dass es nur Sinn ergibt, diese Liste zu importieren und die Spam-Instanzen stumm zu schalten, wenn ihr euren Spam lokal und nachhaltig blockiert habt, wie hier beschrieben.

Hello all Fedi Admins who have problems with spam!

I have been working on a spam list all day today and found 65 instances that have not stopped spamming! I have compiled the instances into a list which mutes them, and does not defederate from them:

Once this list is imported, most of the spam is gone. The whole thing is easy for you, with just one click! In addition, no instance is blocked forever, no followers etc. are destroyed or defollowed, only muted. This is very easy to reverse.

You can simply import this list by going to https://yourinstance.tld/admin/export_domain_blocks/new and replacing yourinstance.tld with the domain of the instance you are the administrator of!

Alternatively, you can also click on Settings => Moderation => Federation => Import to import this list.

Note that although all instances can be imported with one click, these instances must be removed individually when the spam is over.

Also note that it only makes sense to import this list and mute the spam instances if you have blocked your spam locally and permanently, as described here.

@skobkin they endorse users who disobey our rules by pushing accounts like Moms for Liberty, Gays Against Groomers, or other alt-right and far right accounts / viewpoints. They allow such users on their platform even after reporting, which means they are tolerating what they are posting.

Again, if this was a Fedi instance it'd be defederated.

@skobkin have you ever run a social network? You're telling me I should individually ban each Nazi on the 141 million user social network instead of just defederating from the Nazi network all together? Sorry not sorry, but that's just not possible. Every Admin has a limited amount of time. If your instance isn't moderating discrimination it has no place interacting with our users.

Those were the rules for every other Fediverse instance, and we do not discriminate nor favor Threads in any way. They are to be treated like every other instance.

For me personally an instance's user's ability to not be harassed but protected is more important.

@skobkin No, I'm suggesting to defederate from instances who not only allow but endorse users who disobey your rules, especially when it comes to discrimination, disinformation, etc.

If Threads was a Mastodon instance it would violate almost every instance's rules.

@yukijoou @skobkin that too! As well as not moderating alt-right, fascist, or openly Nazi accounts.

Sorry not sorry, we ban individual users if admins aren't capable of enforcing their rules fast or well enough, but we defederate if admins willingly allow users that discriminate and break our rules.

I don't care if it's a 10 user or 141.000.000 user network. Allow fascists, you won't be part of our internet.

I'm usually entirely with you - this is not worth anyone's time. I should know better not to take obvious attempts at annoying me serious enough to let them affect me, but in that moment I was just too surprised that this was happening I was willing to let it go through. Going forward I'll follow your advice! Again, thanks a lot.

I'm having a wonderful day today!! I'm currently in Prague and there was incredible snowfall during the night- something I haven't seen up north where I live since my earliest childhood.

So, don't worry! I'm having a wonderful time and am willing to leave this discussion behind (again). I honestly forgot this was a thing as the original discussion happened over a week ago - in a week I will not care again. Vodafone executives when Erik Uden hosts side-services of mastodon.de on a 1Gbit/s private contract instead of a business contract

I was called on my personal phone number this evening (22:50) by a group of 10 people from the Fediverse ( @Lily@girldick.gay ) threatening to report to Vodafone that we are disobeying their terms of service (side-services of mastodon.de are hosted behind a 1Gbit/s private connection instead of a business contract). While their obviously ill-intended conversation was going on, they were also live posting about it on their accounts happily admitting to what they are doing. You can see these comments as screenshots attached to this post.

The motivation behind this was simply to annoy me. I know the people, we had a slight disagreement on the Fediverse recently. Regardless of the contract, we have planned to move mastodon.de completely to the cloud soon.

Honest to god, mastodon.de is a donation-funded project. Me and a couple of friends do this honorarily and we do our best to be as transparent about our expenditures as possible. I do all the finances, all public texts, all management, calls, etc. I do this next to studying Computer Science in university, next to my honorary political / environmental activist work, next to having friends or sleeping which often comes too short.

I'd love to have the life of people that can take the time out of their day to call someone at 11 pm simply to annoy them due to some internet argument that started and ended over a week ago. Truly, if I'd have that kind of time I'd be happier in life. Annoy billionaires and politicians, but not some guy who has spent all of his time, effort, and money into something that is for the common good.

@Lily what part is worse? The fact I opened a new instance and switched to it when I learned who Alex Gleason was and what he stands for...?

What is and isn't a war crime is still decided by the USA and no other nation on earth.

I'd like to remind people that the USA passed a law promising to invade the Netherlands if any U.S. war criminals were ever put on trial in the International Criminal Court The Hague as part of the Hague Invasion Act.

Since Mastodon I finally know what camera to get - really want to get into that hobby. A friend of mine suggested the A6300 for hobbyists, and I might do that to shoot similarly awesome pictures like yours :blobcatmeltlove:
