The problem with hyperrealism in games is, it doesn't make the game more entertaining, it forcibly constrains and limits what you can do to what is possible in real life and wouldn't you know, real life is pretty boring and ugly.
Games were better when it was a toy and not "art" because whenever something becomes "art" it becomes some faggot's pretentious masturbatory fantasy that everyone is meant to suffer through while clapping about how 5deep3u it is. -

This reminded me why I dropped all attempts at designing when I was depressed and preferred programming after recovering.
Was able to stitch together enough to have a working prototype in UE5 because I'm retarded within a month.
The spent the next few months struggling to actually design any of my characters because every idea I had looked like shit. -

It's hard to blame him or any man that made the effort to find a facsimile of a loving relationship with the AI chatbot because females don't even acknowledge the existence of majority of men, if you aren't a 9.9/10 then you are a cockroach that needs to either leave or be killed.
Having been in a similar situation (not in love with the AI chatbot), I get it, life is difficult, no one chose to be born just to suffer and some unconditional love even from an AI can makes a big difference, it's unfair but there is only so much that can be done.

The reason Mahou Shoujo ni Akogarete was praised was because an anime adaptation of an ecchi manga that didn't heavily censor is so fucking rare now, a decade ago this was the norm.

Even if the script was translated accurately, american voice acting itself is mostly shit, for every vic mignogna who is genuinely passionate, you get hundreds of talentless z-listers with an ego higher than fujiyama.
From the 2010s onwards, the worst miscast japanese voice acting is at least tolerable and doesn’t make me want to vincent van gogh myself, whereas the average american voice acting is just pure torture.

Westerners hate sincerity, preferring "fun".
With few exceptions western entertainment is filled with post-ironic "humor", no scene can be serious or dramatic without a character making a joke or quip, heaven forbid, characters have genuine emotions.
Localizers are failed writers that couldn't even write the first line in a script draft yet has the ego of someone who is more creative and successful than Tolkien.
