"Musk, Tesla’s CEO and largest shareholder, moved the company’s headquarters from Silicon Valley to Austin, Texas, in 2021, partly because of tensions with various California agencies over practices at the Fremont factory."
Racist practices. That adjective is missing, yet important.

If you're anti-fascist and use the word "moron" as an insult, you might want to stop doing that. The word was invented by a eugenicist to further eugenicist framings. https://archive.ph/B8AZn
@Gargron Felicitations on your natal anniversary!
Something that annoyed and alarmed me about our public higher ed systems in California was the extent to which students were forced into giving for-profit corps their data.
In CA we have the resources to have solutions crafted by public employees paid a decent wage & benefits in comparison to the private sector. Not have it filtered strictly to the top. Yet our community colleges, CSU, and UC pimp students out to for-profit corps - more sources of data breaches.

Me taking photographs of my laptop screen because Google & Apple decided I can't screenshot a big corporation's film property.
The beginning of "9 to 5" has a time capsule of 1980 commuting (albeit staged). They show running after a bus, coming up from the subway, taking taxis, 2 women on bikes, and a man carrying roller skates he's apparently used for multi-modality. @fedibikes #Transportation #BikeTooter
This driver drove through a wooden bollard gate onto a road section that is supposed to be authorized UC Davis vehicles only, drove straight at me where I was walking in the center, with my bike helmet on (because I stopped to walk) then when I took a photo, stopped, reversed hard up the path yelling at me for taking a photo.
I'm sad the license plate isn't that readable. This is precisely the kind of driver we need bollards to prevent reaching people on foot.
I wonder if Mastodonians can come up with a good enough stunt to get Last Week Tonight to make an official account here on Mastodon? #LastWeekTonight #Fediverse
@eff UC Davis automatically collects license plate data of cars on campus. The state can exempt itself from its own laws (and UC has, on occasion). Did anyone ask
AG Bonta about that?
I've been astounded by how many people keep tweeting given all the shitty and shittier things Musk has been doing since acquiring Twitter. Where do folks draw a line? Apparently very very far down the line.
@aral I hope you heal swiftly and completely! And I hope you remember the things (and processes) that weren't designed so accessibly even after it's healed.
Thanks for talking about it.
@aral In "I Will Bear Witness, Volume 1" by Victor Klemperer, he notes how first books by Jewish authors were off-limits to people, then how he as a Jew was not allowed to check books out, then not allowed to read them in the Reading Room, then had bits of his personal library made verboten.
If folks keep letting fascists fash, personal libraries become unavailable as well.
Yet again seeing a public transit advocate not using alt text.
Do you know who relies a lot on public transit??
Blind people.
Use alt text & image description. It takes no more time than it took you to type in the non-alt text window.
