@xianc78 Goodwill, and other consignment stores, used to kick ass back in the day before Instagram and all the hipsters made "thrifting" a thing. I used to be able to buy *really* nice clothes for next to nothing, retro games consoles for a fraction of Ebay prices, rare/expensive records, all kinds of cool shit. Now everyone knows about it, and they price accordingly, or things'll just get stolen, like so. End of an era... :oldsnake:
@Weeble Understandable, I watched like an episode and said "this isn't for me," and stopped. I did try the new Sabrina show back when it started a few years ago, but after five episodes it just didn't do much for me, and I figure if the version with witches and demons couldn't hook me, the "vanilla," version probobly wouldn't either. :02_shrug:
@Weeble They could probobly have comfortably played it off as a gag at the time, but the subtext was pretty blatant. They ever hook up in that live action Riverdale thing? I could never get into it...
@Weeble I have a soft spot for Betty and Veronica, putting those kinds of lesbian overtones in a comic of that era either took some serious guts, or was just a very amusing accident.
@xianc78@KryptoBlok That's a fair point, we are starting to veer ever closer to "the 8-Chan problem," over here (the idea being that free-speech oriented sites have a habit of attracting people banned off everything else because they have "unacceptable" ideas," and as such, those ideas become the dominant force of that site by nature of density; 8-Chan being the titular example). I just tend to just roll with it most of the time whenever Poasties call me a LOLbertarian or Lefties call me a fascist or whatever, diffusing the situation with humor helps too. If someone gets genuinely annoying I just stop replying, thread usually dies relatively quickly. I'm able to maintain fairly friendly mutual relationships with both legit communists and self proclaimed "NatSocs" on here using that technique; it's especially fun when they fight, because then you can watch the chaos unfold on your dash in real time. :comfypopcorn:
@xianc78@KryptoBlok We're still around, but Libertarians don't really have a flagship instance we congregate around (unless you count Liberdon, which for all its good intensions just doesn't have the numbers of a Poast or an Baest). Part of this is just by nature, you ask five different people who call themselves "Libertarians," what it means to be one and you'll get five different answers. Just find people who have perspectives you find interesting, or post stuff that makes you laugh; that's the key to enjoying this weird little place we've found ourselves on. :pleromatan:
@mangeurdenuage It's not over-produced enough to be fan-made, and too accurate to the source material to be a Netflix adaptation. Therefore, it is definitely porn.
@xianc78 I don't doubt that that's the case, and I acknowledge I could probobly get everything running smooth inside an afternoon; but I also understand that I'm just as likely to break something, and what I've got right now works well enough for me. I don't trust Microsoft with my info as far as I can kick them mind you, but I run a VPN and No Script plugins, so I'm alright for now.
@xianc78 It's not a Macbook, it's an Asus VivoBook, couple years old; it's not *good,* but it functions for purposes of sitting next to my record player and scrolling Fedi whilst listening to music.

A Holly Jolly Indigo :padoru:I have a special edition of #indigoswax for you all today, as this was another "I got lucky," day at the record store; because I found a brand new (but heavily discounted, payed about 15 bucks for it), 2020 re-issue of the first Roxy Music album for 1972, on crystal clear vinyl! When I say crystal clear, I'm not kidding around. I own other clear vinyl variants of other albums, and I've never seen one quite this clear. I don't know how well my shitty phone camera picks this up, but it genuinely looks like it's made of glass. Roxy Music is one of my favorite bands of all time; this album was the first of two they made with Brian Eno still in the band, the other being "For Your Pleasure," which I also own on vinyl. After Eno left in 1973 they did go on to release six more albums, and while I personally really like pretty much all of them (with the possible exception of Flesh and Blood, which was very "eh," in my opinion), those first two records were on a whole other level. I think if I were forced to choose, I would probobly say I like "For Your Pleasure" more by about a hair, but this is as close to a perfect album as your likely to find. Also, you have to see footage of Roxy live in the early days; I can't think of another band, except maybe The Stooges, that matched the kind of energy they had on stage in 1972.
*(Also, I want to make it clear, I am *not* touching the grooves of the record in that photo, my thumb is on the rim, my three fingers are only making contact with the center label, and my index finger is floating. I know how to take care of my records, don't worry).
@xianc78 What's even crazier is how much control the vending machine company has over the vending machine in question. I used to run into this a lot back when I worked in hotels; basically the vending is, for all intents and purposes, a unique entity to the building its in. The company that services it is the one who does the supplying, maintenance, handles payment and refunds, etc. the business gets a percentage of their profit, but that's it. In other words, if a vending machine eats your dollar, you can't get a refund from the store, because technically its not their machine. You call the number on the side of the machine, and if you don't get filtered by customer service, they check you a check. For a dollar. My understanding is that this is better in other countries, EG: why Japan is so vend-crazy, but my experience is in the US so... yeah. :McDonalds1:
@xianc78 This is also why the Dems didn't enshrine abortion into the constitution even though they had eight years and a super majority to do it, for the record.
