Works update on my house. The old plaster had to be removed because it was disintegrating, and the new one will help structurally. I like the bare brick look, but (a) it's not faithful to the old style and (b) the new plaster is needed. I'll leave the old stone wall in one side of the room (not pictured)

Current state: new sewage system
Builders like to build things and they tore up the old sewage system before I could stop them. We initially thought it wasn't connected to the city sewers so we told them to start digging.
They had already started removing the yard tiles when we realized there was a fully functioning ceramic sewage pipe that did connect to the city network. We lost some tiles but the damage was halted and fortunately we found some just like them in a scrapyard, so hopefully the floor will be restored to its former state.

Some more photos from the house. The floors are newly varnished, there's a new coat of paint on the windows and there's progress in the bathroom.

We've also replaced the glass in the old windows with double glazing for insulation.
I love this combination of modern amenities with the old style, both visually and structurally.
It's all manual work, less waste and arguably more livable. This was built (for example) without aircoditioning in mind and thus it's not going to need it as much as a modern house.

Kitchen and restroom. The restroom is mostly as before but has a new floor and the kitchen has a new staircase, new paintjob and new marble sink.
