Black tea, white tea, green tea, oolong tea... all the same strain of the same plant, only found at the border of India and China.

    @mischievoustomato @RustyCrab There are some arguments against it. It uses a custom emoji map. Also emojis look different on different platforms, and some emojis are even have variants that appear nearly identical while being different binary (eg red heart). Also, not all programming languages have good emoji support. So it would require standardization and people might have to add special support for whatever programming language they're using. Still, I think it makes a lot more sense to humans than "20ff610265bbc4ceb9b5d0d5a1b7fd0e7aed2bb4cafa5c3275ede06e3dc35992", which I think makes it more difficult to comprehend what you don't know. I think a list of emojis properly conveys "this is random gibberish that doesn't make sense, and that's exactly the point, you're not supposed to get it"

    The world is divided. People are at war. Americans can't agree on what's important.

    I will heal the divide. Here's how.

    My platform is simple. I believe what America needs is exactly one thing. END DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME.

    Guns. Immigration. Abortion. Taxes. These are things people vehemently disagree on. Who is right or wrong, I don't care. I want to do one thing. TO END DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME.

    Year after year. Hour after hour. The world continues on. The vast majority of people believe daylight savings time is a bad thing. And yet NOTHING HAPPENS.

    What is the point of politicians? What is the point of the entire system? If even when we overwhelmingly AGREE on an issue, nothing is done about it?

    The government could actually help here. But they can't even do the MOST BASIC thing. They have tried numerous times and failed.

    This to me is the greatest failure of our great nation. And I am going to drain the swamp. I am going to MAKE THE GOVERNMENT DO THE MOST BASIC THINGS AGAIN (that's my campaign slogan).

    Remember, a vote for Alex Gleason is a vote AGAINST daylight savings time.

      So a Mastodon instance (minor) is closing down because the registar is now owned by the talibans and they're shutting them down. I see people blaming the instance for getting a sketchy TLD (queer.af=Afghanistan) but the real issue there is that ActivityPub does NOT allow you to change your instance name once you created it.
