@ChristiJunior The craziest part is, Pyra as the Perfect Waifu is actually 100% justified in-story:
To understand Pyra, you first need to understand her "sister" Mythra, a tsundere who starts off her life as a Blade quite arrogant, violent and lacking in empathy. Even after plenty of character development Mythra remains somewhat harsh and blunt, to the point of going on an anti-technology rant while standing next to an adorable Robot Girl (she feels terrible about this afterwards and does all she can to make it right tho).
While Mythra *is* very kind deep down, and is raised right by her first master, Prince Addam of Torna, her abrasive personality rubs a lot of people the wrong way, and she ends up getting called out on her actions, a lot (she also gets called a Simpleton, a lot, which must be maddening for someone with a supercomputer brain), and actually ends up changing her ways, growing as a person and forming lasting bonds....all in time for disaster to strike, and all those bonds to be broken. Worst part is, it's Mythra own fault, because she couldn't control her own powers. Understandably, she's unable to cope with this and has a mental breakdown, seals herself away, effectively leaving another personality in her place...but due to Mythra having Godlike abilities, that split personality becomes a whole new person. And that person is Pyra.
See, Pyra ends up being everything Mythra wishes she was, but isn't, everything she felt that her old friends and traveling companions wanted her to be - where Mythra is harsh and blunt, Pyra is kind and considerate. Where Mythra is violent, Pyra is gentle. Where Mythra has more power than she's able to control, Pyra is purposefully underpowered. Hell, Mythra is a notoriously terrible cook, while Pyra is a queen in the kitchen.
However, the two girls do also have a yin and yang thing going on - deep down Mythra *does* actually have some cooking skills, Pyra just bring them out to their full potential. And Pyra certainly does have a little bit of Mythra in her, being able to show formidable backbone and willpower when the situation calls for it (which Rex kinda undersells by just saying that she can be real stubborn sometimes). That's probably why her daughter ends up being quite the brat. But ultimately, her Waifu Qualities are all things Mythra saw herself missing, and which she unconsciously wished for herself/her other self to have.
And THAT'S some damn good Waifu Writing :sip:

As I’ve gone over before, Pyra really is THE perfect Waifu, you don’t require memes or wishful thinking to arrive at that conclusion, it’s all there in the source material. Let me reiterate: Pyra is unfailingly polite, considerate, sweet and pleasant, a submissive people pleaser that’s quick to apologize for any real or perceived wrong she commits. She’s about as far from the Modern Feminist Woman as she can possibly be. Of course, Pyra *does* have a backbone, indeed, she has ferocious willpower and WILL stand up to injustices committed against others, but tooting her own horn or putting others down to make herself feel better is completely foreign to her nature.
Here’s also a girl who’s not only an excellent cook, but who’s happy to wash the dishes afterwards, indeed, she explicitly says that she *likes* to help out around the house, because it’s satisfying for her to prove herself useful outside of battle. She’s actively looking for ways to make herself more appealing and attractive to her man (that’s what the notorious Blushy Crushy heart-to-heart was all about), and obviously chill enough that she has no problem sharing Rex with two other women (hell, one Xenoblade 2 intro screen shows her actively inviting Nia to join her, Rex and Mythra).
At the same time, there are reasons to think that Pyra’s not quite as innocent as she makes herself out to be. For starters, she’s Mythra’s other self, sharing Mythra’s extensive knowledge about the world, which would naturally include an understanding of the male mind (which Mythra considers quite perverted) and the meaning behind terms like “one-eyed monster”….so when you see Pyra repeatedly shoving her tits in Rex’s face, I’m tempted to pull a Marco Rubio and say that she knows exactly what she’s doing. She also jumps to the assumption that Rex is a Sadist remarkably quickly after he accidentally rubs some medicine a bit too hard on a flesh wound of hers, which would also seem to hint at Pyra having knowledge about S&M and some “interesting” ideas about the male mind.
Basically, while Pyra really IS in possession of all the ideal female virtues, there’s no reason to assume she’s this über-sheltered womanchild whose first response to seeing a penis would be to scream and cry (and that’s even without considering how Rex has probably not even hit 20 by the time he makes her a mother). If anything, Pyra has a distinct “Lady in the streets, Lover in the sheets” energy to her, and within the lewder spaces of the Xenoblade 2 fandom there seems to be a widespread belief that she’s sexually a lot more confident and assertive than Mythra, who’s viewed as surprisingly meek and submissive when truly rendered exposed and vulnerable. While certainly not the kind of “dommy mommy” that Fagmenco seeks, Pyra is at the very least perceived as more adventurous and daring, while still very much committed to pleasing her man (who she’s also happy to share).
Moreover, despite her status as a Sword Girl, Pyra is 100% capable of successfully breeding with a human male. Indeed, she is canonically a Mother, and her daughter Glimmer is one of the playable party characters in Xenoblade 3’s Future Redeemed DLC adventure (which is unironically my 2023 GOTY). No need to speculate about what kind of kids Pyra would produce, we already have our answer, and it’s quite spectacular. And that’s without even bringing up how being married to Pyra turned Rex into a GigaChad in just a few years…

@ChristiJunior For the record, Samus is course also amazing, I did a whole writeup on why she's so good after she won the tournament last year. However, Pyra is far superior Wife material, she's a redhead (very important), she's the more well-developed character (both in terms of character writing and curves), and as much as I like the Metroid series, I love Xenoblade 2 more than any individual Metroid game. So yeah, this was still an easy choice for me.
