Depending on the crime. Some crimes are so vile that the argument could be made that the criminal has forsaken their own soul and possible redemption just by committing it.

Osaka defies logic because her first match was rigged. She is very much the embodiment of a wild card. What baffles me is how two girls who didn't even make the initial 16 were able to make it to the semifinals.

Excel Saga was brilliant. I also think a lot of it comes from the fact that a lot of people weren't actually around for those times and instead watched that stuff later in life.
