But that doesn't mean I have love and accept EVERYONE, there is such as righteous anger and righteous hatred. It's not wrong to hate evil, it's not a sin to hate wickedness and wicked people with a perfect hatred, and make wise decisions based on that hatred.
When Jesus says love one another, forgive each other, he's talking about how we treat each others as christians within our own circles, the only love were are commanded to show the heathens (unbelievers) is to give them the Gospel of Jesus Christ, thats it.
I don't even think feeding the homeless is a good thing, people in the church should help each other and the Bible says if you don't work you don't eat, simple as. I think what happened is the socialist and communist ideologies crept into a lot of fake churches and the misconceptions got popularized in the mainstream culture.
The main reason I bring this up is because of that stupid super bowl ad.
@gnarley_boot Pray for those who persecute you (Jesus). Tend to their physical needs as well as their spiritual needs (Paul?). And I think "where possible, live at peace with all men" is from the Bible.
The key, I think, is "hate the sin, love the sinner". It is right and proper to be angry at particular behaviours. Promoting child grooming, for example. It should be destroyed with merciless fire, but those who do it still deserve a chance at repentence. The bit I struggle with is "at what point do you say 'he will never repent, it is better that he die now'?" Surely it's not "never".
@Zergling_man Should a man who raped and tortured children over several decades be given a chance at redemption? At any point he could've stopped and seeked redemption but instead he kept on going to the point where he had a victim count of 30+ @gnarley_boot
@Zergling_man >The bit I struggle with is "at what point do you say 'he will never repent, it is better that he die now'?" Depending on the crime. Some crimes are so vile that the argument could be made that the criminal has forsaken their own soul and possible redemption just by committing it. @gnarley_boot
@Zergling_man@Awoo@gnarley_boot@deprecated_ii I can't think of a Christian sect that preaches that you get an extra shot after death. Best you get is the "virtuous pagan" idea of good people being judged on their merits alone, which gives them a slim chance.
@deprecated_ii@gnarley_boot@Awoo >he has until he dies to do it I'm really curious about this one. Some people die without hearing the Gospel. Don't they get a chance to repent? So I think there is one last chance, after death.
Sometimes I just want to get things off my chest, that is a core utility of a FOSS free speech platform after all. Sometimes when I air out my thoughts and feeling people pick them apart, dissect them and start arguing.
I feel like the guy in this song where he says, "sometimes I don't speak right, but I know what I'm talking about, why can't we be frens..."
Argument is one thing, and mostly fine; it's just fleshing out the depths of whatever and, sometimes, coming to agreement. Lying is detestable, and that man is a liar.
