Co-working space company WeWork - once valued at $6 trillion or some other equally ridiculous jew number - is planning to emerge from Chapter 11 bankruptcy after raising fresh capital and creating a plan to pay off some part of its $4 billion in debt.
businessinsider.com/wework-rejects-adam-neumanns-acquisition-bid-unveils-restructuring-2024-4
Though certainly not all of it.
Adam Neumann-Fried, former WeWork CEO and the guy who landed it in bankruptcy with $4 billion in debt in the first place, offered to buy its remains for $650 million.
The remains declined to be bought.

The purpose of a system is what it does.
In this case Maria Cantwell ran for the Senate promising privacy legislation. She has spent the 24 years since then blocking all efforts towards it.

The global economy depends on a single road in Spruce Pine, North Carolina.
tomshardware.com/tech-industry/semiconductors/the-worlds-semiconductor-industry-hinges-on-a-quartz-factory-in-north-carolina
That road leads to a mine producing the purest quartz in the world, and the factory that processes it. There is no naturally occurring alternative source.
The quartz is used to create crucibles which are used to produced silicon wafers, which are in turn sliced and cooked and dice to produce computer chips.
It is possible to make the quartz synthetically; we just don't right now because its very costly and there's an enormous pile of it sitting underground in this one spot that can mined cheaply. But it would be a few difficult years if anything happened there.

If I'm presented with two resumes for a new hire, one a recent Harvard graduate with a PhD in precisely the Chemistry field I am hiring for, and the other a community college dropout whose only Chemical Engineering experience is putting together a particular Minecraft crafting item, I'm hiring the Minecraft kid.
Just saying.

@Crux_Invictus @kybermace >I mean ‘the organizer team’. I did basically nothing to set up and run this event, which was a lot of work. A full-time-job amount of work.
>It was a lot of work because how the hell do you let internet randos in to an orgy, safely?
>then did brief interviews - 83 of them!
>The lab orders were confusing and custom because we required some unusual tests
>32% tested positive for HSV1, and 8% tested positive for HSV2.
>I also took antivirals as a preventative measure. But realistically, given my bodycount and my age, this might possibly be some evidence that I might have a natural resistance to HSV anyway.
