Podcasts were much more diverse in terms of content in the past. You could pick just about any topic, no matter how niche or obscure, and get about a dozen of them, with an understanding that a least one of them will be interesting to you. Podcasting had a political element from the start, but there was a period where it was very subdued, often not even noticeable, especially in the interest-based podcasts.

But sin the mid 2010s or so, all podcasts coalesced around a handful of topics, hence why I brought up the niggersjews podcasts and the Branch Covidian sermons podcasts. You’d download a podcast about a TTRPG or about a programming topic and you’d get a niggersjews rant or something about how BLONALD BLOMF is Literally Hitler or something similarly trite.

Well, there are also the e-drama podcasts, where people think that “deep diving” on random schmucks and turning their DWI into anudda shoah. That Kiwi Farms shit ran its course real fast for me.

What is the deal with this roundtable podcast format where you have a dozen fake chads and a dozen fake stacies bullshitting about “relationships” and shit?

It seems like it’s a replacement for guys going to college and joining a fraternity. I had these exact conversations, except IRL. What’s the word for this again? “Parasocial” or something?

Yeah. I noticed that podcasting and related things like commentary streams kind of coalesced around a handful of topics. For a few years the only thing you could get are podcasts about dajooz and podcasts about how you need to take covax. It was insufferable, especially since for a long time there were relatively apolitical podcasts. The niggersjews podcasts seem to be getting supplanted by the “whores btfo” podcasts.

That’s precisely right. They want the trash. They need the trash. Without the trash, they experience the existential crisis even 80IQ niggercattle can’t stave off.

So what stops me from spoofing @alex and making posts about all the steaks I’m eating?

I think the SHA usernames are going to be an even bigger hurdle for normies to using it than fedi.
