the games industry is waaaaay too focused on "realism" and it takes away from it actually seeming real, funny enough. there's a certain style you have to achieve to trick someone's brain into glossing over inaccuracies, but when you just go all in on the realistic stuff then your brain picks up on it way more.
especially with all of the techniques devs use for various things... they end up looking really bad in motion and you focus way too much on them. it ruins the immersion. i'll take purely rasterized lighting that's really good over ray-traced reflections that smear everywhere when you turn the camera any day.
Until Dawn's PC release is apparently scuffed. Lots of crashes/freezes, requires a PSN account to play it, and even the OST has been changed. Not to mention, it's $60. Even the positive reviews bring up some of this stuff.
What the hell are these companies thinking? It's a nearly decade old game that's barely been changed in any positive way, barely works, requires you to make another account for shit, and they're charging how much for it? At LEAST with Silent Hill 2 Remake, which is SEVENTY FUCKING DOLLARS, pretty much everything had to be redone from scratch. They market Until Dawn as a "rebuild" which more or less just means a prettier port. This game should be like $40 max dawg.
@xianc78 oh yeah i don't think companies should be obligated to rerelease everything either. i just think that if a certain amount of time has gone by without the company selling them, it shouldn't be illegal for them to be distributed freely. wishful thinking.
@xianc78 i will say that the reason for the enemies moving on screen is because some of the attacks, i think namely the ones you do with multiple party members, have actual hitboxes in like an AOE effect so you can actually hit several enemies at once with them if you time it right and attack the right one. the battle system is among the more unique of JRPGs. i just am not particularly fond of it lol.
inb4 "voting doesn't matter" but i won't vote for anyone if their platform includes anything about israel other than not engaging in any sort of relationship with them whatsoever.
i just hate how the us has to get involved in everyone else's fucking business when we have more than enough problems on our own soil. problems that, if addressed, would do far more good than giving weapons to people to destroy each other with.
