The therapy I had while on them was ass. Took a couple years after stopping taking them to feel normal again. Those high school years feel like a completely different person lived them, like I watched someone else's memories. It's really weird.

My best friend got his degree in pharmacology last year and has already quit. Says he hates the culture and doesn't want to be complicit in fucking people over because he's seen it happen in real time. I hope one day we look back on all of this and see what a monstrous machine it was.

@xianc78 I had a teacher who was an airforce pilot during Vietnam. Told us a story about how they saw a UFO, called it in over the radio, and it promptly got elevated to someone higher in command who told them to turn back and not speak about it ever again.

a good windows install using these simple tools is a much better experience than linux is in my personal opinion. that isn't to say that linux is a bad experience if you know what you're doing and really like tinkering around with things, but at the end of the day i just like the way windows works more. it makes it easier for me to do everything that i need to do instead of fiddling with things as much. and as much as it sucks, most software either works better on windows or the commercial software is leagues better than the foss stuff. i still have yet to find a colorblind filter better than windows' for instance, and the one that someone made for me for linux just didn't work and neither of us could figure out why... which seems to be a trend when it comes to me and linux lol.

right now i'm running win11 and i don't even have notifications, the action center, copilot, cortana, bing search, any telemetry garbage, stripped out services, and more and it only took a little bit of work to setup. explorerpatcher was a godsend too, because i'm much more familiar with win10. win11 gets a little toooo modern with things, i think win10 is a really good sweet spot between looking nice and being functional.

that being said, i had to upgrade to windows 11 because my win10 install decided to shit itself. i had that happen with a mint installation though recently too so it's not like linux is free from random issues popping up like that either. don't know what happened to the windows one, but the mint one i think it's because something updated without another thing updating first and it destroyed it to the point i had to just do a fresh install.

If you are using Windows 11, I would highly recommend checking out ExplorerPatcher. Helps get back a lot of Windows 10 functionality/design.

I only wish I could get the Win10 Start menu back but it seems like every program that changes the Start menu puts it back to Windows 7. I liked having resizable tiles for my most used programs in there and now I just have a list >_>

@xianc78 There are a bunch of different ways. The most common thing to do these days is a shotgun approach, just picking at random whether that's automatic, a big open beta test, or selecting from applications. The other big one is to make people pay for beta access, through something like Patreon.

Before they ever do this though, they are doing focus testing throughout many parts of development. Regular people playing the game while they watch and/or record their thoughts on the experience.

Then there are also seperate companies that will actually try to break things. That's more useful for big single player games or for the final step before launching an open beta.

My method is just going to be doing this small insider beta, collecting feedback from it and adjusting accordingly, then sending out applications on a few different places (here, RPGcodex, Reddit, Discord, and RPG Maker Web) and then pick based on the responses. I don't want a bunch of people who know nothing about game development because they may not be intuitive enough to break things in some cases, and I also don't want just game developers because they might not play it like a regular joe would. Ideally, from the applications I'd like to select a good mix of people that I think will give me diverse feedback, but not so much that it's hard to keep up with it all.

idk man, looking at a short character in a skimpy outfit dancing on a pole in an anime video game and immediately thinking "THIS IS A CHILD AND YOU SHOULD BE PUT ON A LIST" seems a little unhinged to me.
