Corvids are my favorite birds. My personal biases include intelligence and courage, and Crows and Ravens are amazing in both.
I've heard that wolves are the same way. I suspect that if we did a study we'd find out that the most intelligent animals are the ones that live in flocks, packs, or herds. I assume that learning to live socially requires very different intelligence levels, instincts, and natural responses for survival.

We got half a maple tree on ours in a storm a couple of days ago.

Thankfully it didn't fall toward the house, just parallel. And thankfully it wasn't the maple in the front yard that guards my bedroom/office windows.

We have a giant old (for a Mimosa) tree outside the back door here, that fills up with butterflies when the flowers are in bloom.

That's great to hear. When I succumb to the temptation to be vulnerable and real on social media I am always braced for the likely negative responses. I know what I say is often not what the average person considers "normal" but it is always things that have been proven true to me over many years and that I hope will resonate with at least someone..

A lifetime of amateur psychology lead me to conclude that "normal, well-balanced people" have been taught from infancy to trust "authority" to know more than they do, and so tend to comply more often than not. Only those, like me, who have been betrayed enough to have developed a critical eye, become 'conspiracy theorists" and are willing to distrust and research. That probably makes society and civilization work much more smoothly -- .until malicious betrayal arrives.
