2025. you go to a website. you see all the elements on the page pop-in, loading one by one. it's like the 90s again. your internet connection might be hundreds of megabits per second. the web designer is using a 4k video file as a looping background, and that somehow loads quickly compared to all the actual useful elements on the page. three seconds, five seconds, ten seconds. each checkbox and table has to initialize its own software stack of UI abstraction libraries and surveillance middleware

@Gargron i looked for an error log somewhere in the app but there doesn’t seem to be one? i suppose I could do a bunch of test posts or something. I didn’t get an error or anything, just posted as normal and then it wasn’t there.

@Gargron i posted a toot at someone, and it shows up in my main public timeline in a way that all my followers see it by default rather than just people looking at my ‘posts and replies’ or mutuals of the other account. not sure why. probably user error? there’s probably a technical reason. then i posted about that, and that post didn’t post and it seems like it’s vanished forever. probably also user error. i probably need to get fediverse for dummies book or something

im a big fan of having as many different flight control surfaces, canards, variable geometry wings etc as possible. it really broadens the range of expression the aircraft is capable of, and increases its capacity to react and emote with dramatic or subtle gestures and body language

for example, like a dog that's sad that its walk is coming to an end, a concorde will droop its snoot on landing, and do that face you know the one where you want to give it a little jet-a as a treat

keep coming back to the realization that tux is like one of the best character designs of all time. something about his facial expression. he looks so Head Empty. and the way his feet are faced towards the viewer really emphasizes how he's just sitting on his ass and not doing much of anything. all of that combined with the bold, high-contrast black-and-white with the bright yellow-orange accents? it just screams Yeah Sure It Doesnt Work. What Am I Gonna Do About It? Nothin :)

whats up youtube!! heres a great new computer you havent heard of. its the uhhh. the uhhh.... the . ... well its a pretty upscale, expensive workstation from the 90s, or maybe the 80s, and its uhh, well when it came out it was $180,000 but i got it on ebay for $5!!! it has a lot of really cool shit on it like. a unix shell. see i can type in 'ls' just like today!!! anyway it also has a c compiler!! and thats it!!! anyway thanks for watching
