I would like to remind everyone saying Netanyahu needs to get rid of Hamas, (hence the killing in Gaza), that Netanyahu has been propping up Hamas for *YEARS* and is still opposed to a functional government in Gaza post-Nakba II. If you're angry that the Palestinians haven't got rid of Hamas, you need to put some of the blame on Netanyahu.

Fellow Black people - I know that in light of the #jacksonville killing, some people booed the white suprem-, er, Intellectually Diverse™ governor DeSantis of Florida, given his vocal and political support of white nationalism. However, as a Black community, we have to remember that protesting violent white supremacy sometimes makes white people feel sad! And angry! And isn't that really a kind of racism in itself, if you think about it?

Anyway, I'm happy to draw your attention to this helpful book, collecting all the wisdom of white Controversial Thinkers® like DeSantis and all those other bitch-faces about the best way to protest against racism. Compromise!

One of my biggest concerns about switching over to Mastodon when I did, was losing the online Black community I developed on birb site, many of whom were very helpful to my continuing to thrive as I negotiated white supremacist spaces in my professional and personal life. I am very happy to find another such community here, and want to give a shout outs to SOME (wish I could tag everybody - the search function is pretty terrible here for some reason) of the people that keep me coming back to the Fediverse. Love you guys!

See, for white society in general, it does not matter if you as a Black person are "highly intelligent," a "gifted soul," or not. The very first thing they see, and often the ONLY thing they see is your Blackness. You could be a dual Juilliard and Harvard grad with a PhD in neuroscience - if you knock on the wrong white person's door, all they will see is "Negro savage." They killed Elijah McClain. They killed John Crawford. They roughed up Henry Louis Gates for going into his *OWN HOUSE.*

Respectability politics will not save us. Only anti-racism will.

White supremacy is, by definition, a gendered project. Maintaining white hegemony requires controlling the reproductive freedom of white people who are identified as women, since white women are the only people who can give birth to more white people. Importantly, policing the reproductive freedom of white women ALSO requires policing the gender expression of everyone, since any LGBTQ+ gender expression threatens white racial hegemony.

THEREFORE, being transphobic, by necessity, means you are siding with white supremacists.

Please realize that.

I understand the sentiment behind people saying we "need" conservative media to "balance" against potential groupthink, but consider that the so-called "liberal media" has advocated in the past 7 years, through both op-eds and journalism the following:

-trans people are gross and weird
-that Ron DeSantis, he sure is a maverick, huh?
-these goddamn liberal college kids keep getting mad at racists, like a bunch of pussies
-we should impose martial law to get these ni-, I mean, thugs in BLM off the street
-man, these Nazis are pretty dapper!
-why do people not want to date Republicans? Just because they keep espousing racist, homophobic, and misogynistic ideas? That's fuckin weak, bro.

So, in all honesty, y'all can miss me with that "we need conservative opinions in the media" bullshit, because we have that ALREADY. Like, ALL THE TIME.

"Fun" fact - white supremacy is really bad for (most) white people!

Here are some things white people lost out on because of racism:

-Walkable cities (because white flight post Civil Rights mean the creation of the suburbs)
-Good, cheap public transit (because they didn't want Those People to go to the newly created suburbs
-Universal single-payer health care (because You Know Who would be "welfare queens")
-Police who are accountable to the public (need to keep Wink Wink Nudge Nudge in line)
-Progressive taxation (because white people can pull themselves up by the bootstraps, just like Elon Musk, and not like I Bet You Can Probably Guess Who)
