@pixelfed In the language filter list, “German” appears twice. One of them seems to be for Swiss German.

@itsfoss I was troubleshooting some problems on a family PC and ended up trying some other distros.

Mint was not my first choice, but after I installed the new version 22, I was pleasantly surprised by its simplicity and easy setup. All the onboard tools felt mature and uncompromising.

After customizing Cinnamon for a bit and installing/configuring everything that was needed, I ended up enjoying it so much that I now plan to also install it the next time I reinstall my own PC.

Every year, it seems like something significant happens for the Linux desktop, leading to claims that the next year will be “the year of the Linux desktop.” In reality, the shift will likely happen gradually, through small but meaningful improvements that add up over time. Adoption will grow slowly but steadily. While Linux may not replace Windows or macOS entirely, and other systems will coexist, using Linux will eventually become a normal choice.
